5 Different Ways to Help You Study!

Finding the perfect study method can be difficult as you trek through high school or even beyond. Many need help finding the ideal method as they assume that a limited number of study methods work. However, you couldn't be more wrong! There are so many different ways to study. In this article, you'll find multiple study methods for a big exam or a small vocab quiz!
Flashcards- Although this is a more generic way of studying, it works best for learning your vocabulary. By repetition, your brain is more likely to remember the written content so that you can use it on future assessments.
Applying to real-world situations- Sometimes, the best way to understand a concept is to relate it to something in real life. For example, the perfect angle to shoot a basketball to make it into the hoop is 45 degrees at 6 feet vs 75 degrees at 12 feet. However, this is a more time-consuming way to study as it requires a lot of critical thinking, so it's only for some.
Writing- Like flashcards, repetition helps the brain ultimately remember something. Some may find that writing is more helpful as you can entirely focus and not space out trying to figure out the word or definition of something. It is scientifically proven that the brain remembers what is written down more than when you don't. Although this is helpful, it is important also to have organization so you don’t get confused later when reviewing again.
Drawing- Many students are better at visually learning something than just taking it at face value from writing. This is usually why students who learn visually are better at geometry than plain algebra. Making one-pagers with diagrams and drawings can help you learn and understand a concept better than before, as you are using your imagination to visualize what it looks like to understand it better.
Talking about it- This is my personal favorite. Talking to your peers or family members about something helps you hone in and remember a topic as you teach it to others who may have yet to gain any previous knowledge. This also enables you to recall what your teacher said during class while it's fresh, making it stay in your brain as a memory. This method is the most helpful as it gets you thinking about your topic while constantly learning more. Getting in study groups can also help you refresh your memory with friends.
